A lot of artists have a sort of "aha!" moment when they began to realize, "Hey, I might be good at this." For me, it was in the first grade. It was art class, and for some reason I can't remember, I chose to draw a groundhog that day. That's him down there. It was a huge drawing, done in crayon, of course. I executed the linework wih a feverish energy that I have rarely equalled since!
He looks executed, doesn't he? By about 50,000 volts. But hey, I was six, okay? And Mrs. Hamilton thought it was great, so there. Anyway, I hope you will conclude that my technique has tightened up since then.
Now fast forward about a zillion years, and I have a combined 15+ years of experience and a trail of happy clients in my wake, serving as both a graphic designer and also as a freelance illustrator.
I am from Charlotte, NC., and graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 1992 with a BFA in Illustration. I was one of the truly rare and memorable art students, inasmuch as I enjoyed Art History class. I actually took extra Art History classes. Just because. And I am still heavily influenced by my favorite masters.
I look forward to adding new things to this website for all to see, as soon as they are completed. Eventually, we should all be able to see if all that extra Raphael and Rauschenberg rubbed off on me. Oh, and thanks for looking. This is the best I've got, for now.
